Pet Clothes

On these “hot” summer days our dogs still like to be outside and go for their walks or go just about anywhere with us.  Some of the dog clothes or dog shirts may be a little to hot for some dogs so why not a cute dog tie accessory?  Pet accessories may be just the thing because some dogs like to be dressed for any occasion and a dog pet accessory tie could be just the thing for them.  You can put one of these ties on your cute little boy and even though he is dressed for the occasion he won’t be too hot. 

It’s very important when your dog is outside that they get plenty of water.  I found out also that the cement is very hot this time of year so watch out for their feet.  Be sure they are able to walk in the grass so their pads won’t be harmed.

My advice is to put on your dogs favorite pet accessories and go out for your summer walk.  Your dog will love it and so will you.

There are some neighborhood rules that require dogs to be on dog leashes.  There is a reason for these rules.  One thing is to keep your dog close to you and another is to keep your dog from running all over the neighborhood and perhaps getting hit by a car.  What about keeping them from biting strangers?  There are several rules that dog owners should follow to keep their dogs safe.

One of the leashes I like to use is the retractable dog leash.  Unlike the designer dog leashes which doesn’t allow you dog to run ahead very far these leashes will give your dog a little freedom to run.  I find that I can get some exercise when I walk my dog with one of these leashes.  He can run ahead and catch some scents and when he stops I can keep on walking and he can catch up.  This dog leash will retract when your dog needs to be close by your side.  My dog loves these dog leashes and it also gives him a little privacy when he needs it (if you know what I mean.)  Enjoy your walk!

Most dogs like to ride in the car.  They are always wanting new “sniffs”.  But how safe is your dog having free run of the car while you’re driving?  They want in the front seat then in the back and then on your lap.  What should happen if you are in a wreck?  Where would your dog end up?  Maybe on the floor board or perhaps like a bullet through the windshield.  All of these things are good for thought.  Just like a child they are in danger when riding in the car.

There are many dog carriers to keep them safe in the car.  The dog booster seats are just great for the little ones.  They strap in the backseat using the car seat belts and the dog is able to sit on a comfy cushion and still be high enough to see out the window.  Then open the window and let them “sniff” away knowing they will be safe and out of harms way.

Dogs are great companions and they love to get out and walk.  There are many collars you can get for your dog but now days there are many harnesses for dogs also.  The harnesses come in many styles and there is a style for all dogs and their behavior.  Also, they are so much easier on a dog’s neck and back.  

You will need to measure your dog to make sure you have a good harness fit.  The girth (chest) is the most important part.  Use a tape measure and wrap it around your dog’s chest behind his front legs.  Make sure that your dog is standing and not moving around to much so you get a good measurement.  Hold the tape around the dogs chest and put one to two fingers between your dog and the tape measure. You should have a good measurement after doing this.  There are some of the dog harnesses that are measured by the dog’s weight.

The harnesses are a safe way to walk your dog.  They are more secure than the collar because it takes a little more wiggling to get out of a harness.  Also, if your dog has a sensitive throat or issues with a collapsing trachea a harness will be the best way to walk your dog.  Many small dogs are prone to have problems with their throats 

There are many unique styles of harnesses made from a wide variety of materials.  There is a harness to suit your dog also.  So keep your dog save and close and “Happy Dog Walking.”

So you want to get a dog?  Just what kind of supplies would you need?  Dog supplies are very important and will help the overall growth and health of your dog.  There are many things to consider when you think about supplies for your dog and they range from food, dog bowls and  leashes to dog clothes.

Of course the most important supply is the food however, lets look at some of the other supplies your dog may need.

Let’s start with the bowls.  The bowls are a one time purchase or you may prefer to get a pet feeder.  There a two kinds of pet feeders one is automated and the other is a mechanical feeder.  The mechanical feeder will feed the pet as much as they want where as an automated feeder will feed at a preset time.  If you just want bowls there are all shapes, sizes, colors and designs to purchase.

Dog clothing is another important supply.  There are very cute and comfy dog sweaters in all sizes and weights.  The smaller dogs love the sweaters because they can get a little cold.  Perhaps a dog coat would be one supply your dog may need for the cold winter months.  There is also eye-wear to protect their eyes from the sun and elements.  Raincoats are another great supply for your dog because most dogs don’t like to go out when it’s raining.  There is everything from cute sweaters to all the designer dog clothes you need.  Also, don’t forget the holiday seasons.  Your dog would look great in the Halloween costumes that are available.

Dog beds are another useful dog supply and one supply you can’t do without.  You will need a comfortable bed for your pet and they come in so many different sizes, colors and styles.  You are sure to find just the bed your dog will love.

From a very small dog to a dog weighing 20 pounds you may want to have a dog carrier.  They are perfect for the dog that likes to go.  Whether you are looking for a backpack, purse or a rolling bag your dog will love to be with you.  I don’t believe there is a dog out there that doesn’t like to “go along”.

Don’t forget the collars and leashes.  Here is an item that you CAN’T do without.  Most neighborhoods require dogs to be on leashes so every time you take your faithful friend for walks the collars and leashes will have to be on.  There is a variety of collars and leashes to choose from.  Whether your dogs needs a designer jeweled collar and leash or just a good ole leather collar and leash be sure that this item is at the top of the list.

Watch out for the fleas and ticks.  This is an important item for your dog.  Fleas and ticks are a big problem in the warmer months and may cause skin irritation in some dogs.  You should always be aware of the fleas and ticks and have this items available.

Some dogs like to take bathes and some don’t.  Grooming is important for large or small dogs.  There are a variety of grooming items from shampoos to conditioners.  Some dogs have sensitive skin and there are grooming products for them also.  For the long haired dogs a groomer is a must.  Find a good one groomer and keep you dog beautiful.

If you have a puppy or a dog that isn’t house trained yet the stain and order removers are a good supply.  They will get out the order and the stain from the carpet for the accidents your dog may have.

Don’t forget the toys.  All dogs like to play.  You can use an old sock or a fancy toy to throw.  Whichever you choose don’t forget to play with your dog.

These are just a few supplies you may need for your dog.  Whatever you choose to have just love your dog and take care of him or her and they will be your companion for as long as they live.

Pets like to be with their masters most of the time.  There are so many pet carriers for pets now and all of them give your pet a chance to stay by your side.

There is a growing assortment of dog carriers to choose from today. People are looking at smaller dogs to bring into their homes.  Therefore, the demand for dog carriers is growing.  Be sure that any carrier you purchase has a safety snap or hook so you dog will be safe as you stroll down the street.

If your dog weighs 8 to 9 pounds or more, you probably will find few dog carriers that will support this weight.  You may want to get a more practical carrier.  The dog world caters to smaller breeds, however, you can find a few carriers that will support dogs up to 20 lbs.  If your dog fits the teacup size from 2-7 lbs. there is a wide variety of fashion styles to choose from.  Try not to buy a carrier that is to big for your dog.  Some of the snuggle carriers would be just the fit so they can curl up and snuggle comfortably.  If they had their favorite toy in a Snuggle Carrier with them, they will be most happy.  Be sure and check out the designer carriers.  They are very fashionable and you will be able to shop, stroll down the street, go to the park and know that you will looking stylish.

Determine the price and style you think your dog will be most comfortable in and go shopping.  You know your dog likes to be by your side and we all like to show them off.  Keep them close to you and they will love you forever.

Well it’s the 4th of July in 2008 and our country is celebrating it’s anniversary.  What a great nation we live in.  Fireworks, hot-dogs, apple pie and homemade ice cream how can you go wrong with all of this at our finger tips.

I went to a neighborhood parade today and everyone was so excited.  I love a parade.  There was patriotic music playing, soldiers in uniform, flags flying, balloons everywhere and I couldn’t help but notice a few dogs.  They of course had their little tongues hanging out.  Some were on leashes and some were being held.  As I was looking at all of these dogs and their owners I was thinking, where are their dog hats?  I looked at the owners and they had their hats and sunglasses on but the dogs were out in the hot sun without any protection.  I really think we should think about these dogs and dress them in the dog visors and hats that are available since the sun is bright for them also and we need to protect their eyes just like we do ours. 

Oh yeah, our dog wasn’t in the parade he doesn’t like the fireworks.  He finds somewhere to hide and shake.  I’m sure he is in for a long night.

When you walk your dog, collars and leashes are a necessity.  I know when we walk our dog it’s really important.  Rudy, our Shih Tzu shown here, is a rescue dog and he would run off if he didn’t have on his collar and leash.  However, the leashes at some dog parks are not as important.  There are dogs with leashes and some are allowed to run around the park without a leash.Collars with tags showing the dogs information is very important when you take them anywhere.  If they should get loose and take off running the dog information attached to their collar will help in your dogs safe return home.  Dog collars and leashes are used mostly to control you dog.  The jeweled dog collars are stylish and fashionable and will show off your dog with sparkles as well as keeping your pet safe and close when on a leash.

There are many designer dog collars and leashes that would suit your dog.  Handmade dog collars and leashes are casual and comfortable and of course the “bling” dog collars in a gold are comfortable and will make yor dog look stylish and expensive.  Some dogs may prefer a dog harness.  The harness is good for dogs that may have sensitive throats.  The harness straps around the chest to keep some of the pressure off of the dogs throat.

Whether your dog likes comfort or likes to show off, the collar with a matching leash is an important asset to your dogs wardrobe.
